Mount Cook, Alpine heartland, translucent Lakes, hidden glaciers, exploration
Aoraki/Mt Cook - Physically Imposing, Visually Impressive
|
Towering at 3753m Mount Cook (Aoraki) is the pinnacle of New Zealand's magnificent Southern Alps Mountains. You can’t help but feel the sheer physical presence of this pristine alpine region, and we guarantee you’ll be inspired to explore. Shaped by the forces of nature, massive glaciers have forged this land leaving a trail of translucent turquoise lakes and rivers across the landscape. No sight is more impressive than the Tasman Glacier; a giant at 30km is one of the longest glaciers in the world to be found outside the polar-regions. Getting up front and personal with New Zealand’s outdoors is what it’s about here, so wind on another roll of film and succumb to your spirit for adventure. |

Suggested Optional Activities: Taking flight is simply what one does at Mountain Cook. The Ski plane landing technique was pioneered in this area during the 1950's. Today it is a favoured method of access to the Tasman Glacier. Heli flights offer flexibility to traverse around the peaks and hover in space to capture your own award winning shot of Aoraki ‘the cloud piercer.’ |

Accommodation:The Hermitage Hotel located within the Mount Cook Village, is deluxe accommodation located on prime real estate nestled at the base of the mountain range. Wake to gorgeous vistas, let your lungs luxuriate in fresh mountain air, fuel the body then just get out there and do it. Or stay at beautiful Lake Tekapo and take in the panaorama extending beyond the turquoise waters. |
|
| Cruising Country Roads: Some of the country’s best open road lies ahead as we leave behind the mountain grandeur before entering rolling highlands to weave our way over the Lindis Pass. On reaching the Clutha Valley on the other side, it’s decision time as we track along side Lake Dunstan or take the Crown Range road into Queenstown. The later option takes in the Cardrona Valley and a classic country pub... not that we are trying to influence your decision here. |
